You can use this online order form to request a divorce record from the Massachusetts Probate and Family Courts in the counties of Bristol, Middlesex, Norfolk, and Suffolk.
Documents such as the Certificate of Divorce Absolute, Certificate of Divorce NISI with Separation Agreement, photocopies of the divorce judgment and/or separation agreements, and court-authenticated, exemplified divorce packets for use in foreign nations** are all available for ordering.
Make a special request if you need something specific, such as a copy of a divorce petition from a current divorce or a copy of a current motion.
For use outside of the United States, the Secretary of State’s Office has certified it.
Please take note that Bristol County and Middlesex County divorce records from before 1992 are archived and kept off-site. From the date of your order, processing may take up to three weeks. These archived records are not eligible for expedited service.

We are unable to process divorce records that have been seized or acquire QDROs. Only the parties listed in the docket or their designated attorneys have access to impounded divorce files and QDRO information.

ORDERING OPTIONS: The kind of record you choose will depend on your specific requirements. Let’s say you require the copy for official reasons, such as a passport, social security, getting a REAL ID, refinancing, or getting remarried. You’ll need option “C” or “D” in that case. Option A: A divorce judgment photocopy costs $35 and must be mailed first class or sent via email in a PDF format. The month, day, and year that the divorce was granted are all listed on this non-certified photocopy of the divorce judgment that was signed by the judge. Additionally, there is no separation agreement with this choice.

Therefore, since it is only a photocopy, “Option A” cannot be used in most States for most legal purposes, such as applying for social security, obtaining a REAL ID, or getting remarried. However, this choice can be scanned, converted to a PDF, and emailed.
In the order form’s notes section, please indicate whether you’d be willing to accept an email containing a scanned copy.
Option B: A divorce judgment and its separation agreement can be copied for a $65 fee. These are just plain copies. They are NOT certified or attested. The previous “Option A” option is the same as this one. It does, however, include the specifics of the separation agreement (if any), including alimony, insurance, custody, visitation, ownership of the property, and child support. This document can also be scanned, converted to a PDF, and emailed, just like “Option A.”.

Option C: A certified copy of a Massachusetts divorce decree, known as a “Certificate of Divorce Absolute,” can be obtained for $75. The document is a certified court record that was hand-typed and bears the court’s raised embossed seal. You can use this for the majority of legitimate or official needs, such as social security applications, second marriages, REAL ID applications, passport applications, and citizenship applications.
The judge’s signature is absent from this kind of document. (For that inclusion, see “Option D” below. You cannot scan and email this document. Priority Mail is used to send all Certificates of Divorce Absolute. An acknowledgement of shipment from USPS along with a tracking number will be sent to you once your order has been processed.
D: A certified copy of a Massachusetts divorce judgment, the “Certificate of Divorce NISI,” and an attested photocopy of the divorce separation agreement are available for $100 each. The document includes details about the divorce, such as alimony, insurance, custody, visitation, property ownership, and child support.
Unlike “Option B,” which is not certified, the document is certified and recognized for use in matters involving child custody, alimony enforcement, pension agreements, disbursements, and refinancing. Notably, you don’t require a certified NISI and agreement when requesting social security, getting remarried, obtaining a REAL ID, getting a child adopted, or requesting citizenship. Email us first if you have any additional questions, and then confirm the requirements with the organization requesting the document.
This document cannot be scanned and emailed. Priority Mail is used to send all NISI divorce certificates. An acknowledgement of shipment from USPS along with a tracking number will be sent to you once your order has been processed.
Option E: Authenticated divorce packets, also known as “Exemplified” divorce packets, are frequently used outside of the United States to re-file for divorce in a different state or, in some cases, for probate court cases or land sales in different states.
For authenticated packets, there is a minimum charge of $150. For the nations of Brazil, India, and Italy, additional copy requirements do apply. You might have to pay more if you need the documents translated, depending on how many pages there are.
While we do not offer translation services, we do provide an additional plain photocopy of the documents so that a qualified translator may process your records. Important: Not all countries require “authenticated packets,” so double-check with us or your country’s requesting agency before placing an order. Please specify in the order notes if you need the document apostatized by the State of Massachusetts and for which country.
We will send a secure link to make the additional $50 payment for this customized service. A Certificate of Divorce Absolute is NOT part of this option. If both are required, you must also order “Option C.”.
